The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm injury, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. Indeed, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. Next 8 days, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. For 5 years gain settings were standardized and kept constant. Further, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the first 3 minutes.
A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.
An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 486 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the gone 6 months.
Tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. Therefore, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 8 hours in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable.
However, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 4 weeks. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 197 to 926. The diameter of the contact area was 422 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 122 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. Nevertheless, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with annoying tennisarm. Nevertheless, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 8 hours.
Indeed, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on two patients with unilateral painful tennisarm. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 6 weeks. Results are presented as mean. Further, there were no significant differences after 5 days.
All PPT measurements were conducted 19 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas.

Tony Stewart climbed the fence in front of the grandstand in what has become his trademark victory celebration. And a crowd of 100,000 at New Hampshire International Speedway roared its approval on last year’s race as he grabbed the checkered flag and pumped his fist in the air just as he did two weeks earlier after a victory at Daytona.
Trust me, I’ll be glad to be panting like a dog when I get up there,” he said. “It’s something they like and I’ll keep doing it for them.” Stewart said he needs a personal trainer. “Yes, I’m still too old and too fat to be doing that stuff,” the 34-year-old driver said. “I’m probably going to fall and bust my butt before its over. I’m glad they let me go through the gate instead of climbing back down.”
Stewart started 13th and wound up winning for the third time in four races, passing inside and outside in a dominant performance in the New England 300.
New Hampshire International Speedway is one of the most unusual tracks on the Nextel Cup Series. How unusual? The track has been described as “Martinsville on steroids.”
The Bahre family are the owners of this track. Its roots in New England racing started in 1964 when Bob Bahre acquired a track in Oxford, Maine, which he and his son, Gary, operated until 1986.
The Bahres’ efforts to bring a major racing facility took off in 1989 when ground was broken for New Hampshire International Speedway on a site about 10 miles north of New Hampshire’s capital city, Concord.
The track opened its gates for the first time in June 1990 and played host to its first NASCAR touring series event, the Budweiser 300 for Busch Series. The Cup Series followed in July 1993, with Rusty Wallace getting the victory.
In July 2000, New Hampshire International Speedway became the first facility to draw more than 100,000 sports fans for a single-day event.
Jeff Burton is the career leader with four Cup victories at NHIS. Burton’s list of victories at New Hampshire International Speedway includes the Dura Lube 300 in 2000 in which Burton led every lap.
In 2004, New Hampshire International Speedway played host to the first race in the inaugural Chase for the Nextel Cup. As it turned out, that race played a big role in how that battle for the championship played out.

This lesson is entitled, “How to Maximize your Distance by Hitting Triples instead of Home Runs” and it’s a great overall theory to build your entire swing around. Keep this in the back of your head at all times while you are on the course, and remind yourself of it before every shot. The result will be increased distance and straighter shots because you’ll be releasing your hands through the ball better.
Background Info:
Many recreational golfers struggle with slices, blocks, and inconsistency because they don’t know how to release their hands through the ball correctly. By “releasing your hands through the ball”, I am describing the act of maximizing your club head speed at the moment of impact, and eliminating the “outside-in” movement that creates a slice.
How You Will Benefit:
- You’ll learn an easy way of “getting your hands through the ball”
- You’ll be increasing the speed of the club head through the impact zone
- You will ensure that the club head is square at impact (which will drastically reduce any slice that you have)
What To Do:
Step 1: Create the “X”
This means that on the follow through, you need to focus on making your forearms cross. This will ensure that your hands have released through the ball correctly. Here’s an illustration of what I am talking about.
Notice the “X” that is created after impact and where the shaft of the club is pointed. Practice getting in this position. Practice creating that “X” after impact.
It will be easy to understand the alterative by paying attention to where the club is pointed, which I will explain in the next step.
Step 2: Finish at Third Base
Focus on pointing the club down the third base line on your follow through. In relation to where my feet are pointed in the picture at left, the club is pointed down the third base line. This is what we want.
Many golfers finish their swing with the club straight up in the air, or even pointed down the first base line in relation to their feet. Try that once, and you will feel the extreme “outside-in” movement that produces a slice. This is nothing more than a habit that can be easily broken. The Simple Golf Swing goes over this step in much more detail.
Summary:
So when you are on the tee next time, focus on just 2 things. Make the “X” and “finish at third”. That’s it. Swinging easy should already be grooved into your swing from the last tip I sent. Focus on these 2 tips, and you should be on your way to consistently staying out of trouble with your driver, which is the first step to scoring better.

Going Into the Paintball Business? Take a Good Hard Look!!
So, you think you want to open your own paintball field! You
love the game the enjoy playing? Playing and enjoying the game
and opening a paintball field as a business are two entirely
different things!!! First, determine if there is enough interest
in y our area to support a paintball field. There is a
difference in a few good old boys getting together and doing
some shooting and serious paintball players who will support a
field. Is there a team in your area? Are there enough players to
make up a good team who are interested in making the commitment
with you and support your field? Having one or more teams makes
for a good base for the opening of a field and then the others
will come!!
Consider what you are getting into. Visit as many different
fields as possible and make notes on the operations, good a bad,
of each. Determine how your field can be better!! Weigh the pros
and cons. What are they offering the players? How are they set
up? What are the rules and regulations? What is the type and
quality of the supplies offered?
Make sure that property you own or are going to buy is zoned
for paintball. The local zoning commission can help you there.
If it isn’t they can guide you in the process to get it rezoned.
Think you need help? Not quite ready to step out on your own?
Try going to fields far away from you and seeing if one of them
will open a “branch” field on your property for a cut of the
profits.
Be sure you figure out all the monetary investment. You will
need insurance, product, buildings and out buildings, field
equipment, referees and their uniforms just to name a few. Taxes
are also a consideration.
It can be a good and profitable business if you go into it with
you eyes open and have a good business plan. If you are going to
be asking for financial investments you might consider having a
professional draw up a business plan for you.
Finally, if all seems good and right, GO FOR IT!! And Good
Luck!! This article and others appear at

Gymnastics: History and Value - A Perspective
Gymnastics, as an activity, has been around for more than two
thousand years in one form or another, from the ancient Greek
Olympics, to Roman ceremony, to today’s modern meets.
As an organized and truly competitive sport, gymnastics has
existed for a little more than a century. It was introduced in
the mid 1800s to the United States, where it inexorably gained
in popularity within school systems.
Amateur associations gathered together by the late nineteenth
century, offering classes and opportunities for young people to
join in on the fun. Eventually, these associations began to have
their own championships.
In 1896, at the first international Olympic games in Athens,
Greece, the sport we all know and love enjoyed its first
large-scale debut. Included in the Olympic tournament were
vaulting, parallel bars, pommel horse, and rings events for men.
The first women’s Olympic gymnastics events were held in 1928.
After the Olympics began to officially host gymnastics, the
World Championship gymnastics meet emerged in the early 1900s,
and it is still held to this very day.
Thus began a noble tradition that continues even in modern
Olympic games and in local, regional, national, and world meets
all over.
If you’re the parent of a young gymnast, odds are, people are
going to ask you, “Why did you choose gymnastics over swimming,
ballet, football, baseball, or soccer?” It is an easy question
to offer, but not a simple one to answer.
Their curiosity is entirely understandable–to the uninitiated,
may have a lower profile than others. However, if you are indeed
very serious about your child participating in the sport, you
can tell those people, with great authority, that gymnastics is
an excellent way to spend time. Not only does it have a long and
illustrious history, but it also requires attention and
discipline on the part of a child–more so, perhaps, than one
involved in any other sport.
In order to become successful at the sport of gymnastics, your
child will have to get into a routine of practice.
This type of routine is different from, say, soccer practice or
hockey practice, in that it does not involve the concept of
physical rivalry with other individuals. A gymnast is not
typically seen chasing after another gymnastics youth with a set
of rings as one might see a hockey player attacking another
person on an opposing team.
Gymnastics does not encourage violence in the same way contact
sports do — indeed, when one is part of a gymnastics team, one
has to work in synchronicity with and have a certain trust for
the other members, a valuable lesson in this
individualism-driven social environment. This can certainly help
in any future employment, especially if your child is interested
in professions that involve lots of interpersonal communication.
Beyond practice, gymnastics also requires physical discipline.
For instance, if you do not move in the way that you are taught
to move when on parallel bars, you will have falls and
disappointment–and then, of course, you learn from the mistake,
pick up, and try it again. Playing at gymnastics braces a person
for the future in that way: it prepares them for the inevitable
necessity of determination and endurance in any of life’s
endeavors, whether in business or in education. In conjunction
with school study habits, practice for gymnastics can indeed
lead a young person into a level and graceful confidence. In
fact, for as physically driven as gymnastics happens to be, it
is also an extremely intellectual sport: every motion requires
forethought, for in the game, if you do not think of what you
are going to do before you do it, you’ll end up on the mat.
Finally, and perhaps most obviously of all, there is the fact
that gymnastics will keep your child busy, as any other sport
might. This means that he or she won’t be as likely to slip into
a pattern of slacking or of hanging out with the wrong crowd.
Quite literally, when your child is at practice, you will know
where they are — you will not have to worry if they have
wandered off somewhere or are unintentionally getting into
trouble. This can lead to peace of mind for you and yours, most
assuredly, which, like the skills they will learn, are
absolutely invaluable.

Here’s a few picks for this weekend’s action:
Dallas/Carolina UNDER 37 1/2 (3 units)…Both teams will struggle to move the ball and sustain drives. The Dallas O-Line is in horrible shape, and they’ll have to run the ball some (with very little successs) to give Bledsoe any sort of chance to stay upright, and as long as the Dallas D doesn’t allow Delhomme and Smith to go off, it’ll be hard for the Panthers to mount much offensively…
Carolina 13 Dallas 10
Tampa Bay -3 (2 units): Atlanta has proven they can’t beat the better teams in the league. Tampa will rebound from their poor play last week, in which they were overmatched by one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They’ll get the Cadillac rolling this week for over 125 yds rushing.
Vick actually had a good passing game when these teams met last time (those are few and far between), but the Bucs D will be all over him on Saturday. Tampa’s going back to the playoffs after a two-year abscence..
Bucs 24 Atl 13
Kansas City +1 (2 units)…Chiefs as a home doggie ?? hmmmm….Both teams have a whole lot to play for, so this isn’t considered a “letdown” spot for SD after beating Indy. But, it is a HUGE chore to expect them to win at Indy AND KC in back-to-back weeks…
LT is banged up, but will play. He may be limited though, which is bad news for the Chargers. The key will be if KC can run against SD’s front, which has been magnificent.
Larry Johnson may not have a whole lotta room to run, but he’ll be effective enough to help keep the heat off Trent Green, who I expect to have a huge day.
I give KC a slight edge on Saturday, which will keep the AFC wildcard race a mess leading up to week 17..
KC 30 San Diego 24 (slight lean to the over also)

When I was about 6 years old my family lived in a little African country that was way down on the pointy end of the continent. It has not existed for about 10 years but that’s a different story altogether, but I remember that one fine day my dad came home from a business trip in East London, which is still conveniently located in nearby South Africa. I remember his return because it marked the moment in my life that I became aware of the NFL, specifically I became aware of the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins.
My dad came home with gifts for my brother and I in the form of a baseball cap each. Mine was dark blue with white writing on the front that read Dallas Cowboys and my brothers was a deep red with Washington Redskins printed on the front. We had absolutely no idea who the Dallas Cowboys or Washington Redskins were or what it was they actually did but the hats said Cowboys and Indians on them so we were more then happy to wear them. As time wore on I learnt a bit more about the NFL, mainly that it was slightly similar to rugby but was played by big guys who did not appear to enjoy getting hurt. To avoid this inconvenience the teams made sure that the players wore enough padding to absorb the impact equal to that which you would experience if you were hit by a small car going 30 miles an hour. The result is big men wearing lots of foam and a game that stops every few minutes so the TV stations can show another advert (talk about another story opportunity…)
At the end of the year 2000 my wife and I decided to emigrate from Johannesburg in South Africa to Dallas Texas in the hope of having a better life and more work opportunities for us both. The job market in Dallas appeared to be robust and growing and the weather is quite enjoyable. No though was given to any other part of life in Big D, no thoughts of Dealey Plaza, the President, the TV show, the Cowboys or Cowtown USA. Work was the only motivational factor in the selection of what has become our home city.
A few weeks after our lonely arrival in Dallas we bought a slightly used Ford truck to start exploring our new universe and low and behold we found Texas Stadium, Home of the Dallas Cowboys. I was a bit surprised and found myself remembering that beat up old hat from my childhood. About a year later I was given 5 tickets to a game and while we sat in the stadium I had the strange sensation of having gone full circle, as a childhood image was being played out in front of me. I now knew who the Cowboys are. A nice person sitting near me even took the time to inform me of some of the teams illustrious history and that they were the WORLD CHAMPIONS!
World?
I have supported Manchester United Football Club since about 1990. They are certainly English Champions and even European Champions twice, but ultimately the club has failed to reach the heights that other iconic soccer teams like Liverpool or Real Madrid have. The club rarely succeeds in the international competitions they play in, but they definitely give their competitors a run for their money. Man U has held more then 50 Champions trophies in different competitions high above their heads, in some competitions many more then any other team ever has, and as a result their trophy room at Old Trafford is considered by some to be second to none. The team has dominated the English game for most of the last 15 years and is hated because of it. Unfortunately they have stumbled a bit over the last 3 years but what team doesn’t.
Here is the most fascinating part in all this for me: Manchester United competes against some of the greatest clubs worldwide. Sometimes they win and oftentimes they don’t, but they have NEVER claimed themselves to be world champions in their 103-year history. They have certainly achieved more then the Cowboys ever have, so how can the Cowboys call themselves world champions? Clearly the FIFA and their Soccer World Cup determines what country is the World Champion and there are several international club cups that attempt to crown a Club World Champion, but some might argue that none of these competitions really represent all the clubs on the whole planet.
So lets go back to the NFL and America’s Team, the Cowboys. How does an organization that consists of teams exclusively from American cities and cleverly named the National Football League end up with World Champion teams?
If no other country is competing in the NFL what makes them think that they have the right to hang the title of World Champions over their door? Heck, Canada doesn’t even play!
Consider the NFL trophy itself: It is handcrafted out of solid silver and stands a mere 22 inches high. It was first presented at the AFL-NFL World Championship Game (now called the Super Bowl, which by the way is remarkably good when enjoyed with beer and chips) on January the 15th 1967. It was originally called the World Championship Game Trophy, but in 1971 the name was changed to the Lombardi Trophy. Good move.
Can you call yourself World Champions if you are the only one playing? If you are the only one playing and you win why not call yourself Champions of the Universe?

The best way to train a couple of days before a marathon is to stop training altogether.
How long you can exercise a muscle depends on how much sugar you can store in that muscle before you start to exercise. Dr. Dave Costill of Ball State University asked one group of highly-trained runners to jog at a slow pace on the two days prior to measuring their muscle sugars and another group to not jog at all. The runners who didn’t jog stored the most sugar.
Studies on bicycle racers show that their muscles will load maximally with sugar when they take a very hard workout 4 days prior to racing and then ride easily for the next three days. However, Exhaustive running three or four days before a marathon will decrease the amount of sugar that muscles can store, presumably because hard running damages muscles and interferes with their ability to store sugar.
There is no evidence that a single hard workout on the week before a race will help a runner during that race. Hard training tears down muscles and it take several days for the muscles to heal sufficiently to improve performance. So, the best way for a runner to prepare for a marathon is to run at a slow pace on the fifth, fourth and third day before a marathon and not to run at all on the last two days beforehand.
