Now, let, talk about you! Here’s my personal advice if want to increase MEANINGFUL, Targeted Traffic to your site:

1. Look for that special ’something’ that sets your product or Website ‘apart from the pack’.

2. You can start an EZINE! and announce it. Check out all the tips available on my Website and back issues of my EZine. Harmony Major’s Article about EZines on Issue 18 Is Great. It’s all FREE! 3. Create your own BUZZ! You could give incentives or reward your prospects, SATISFIED customers or users for promoting your service. Have you ever stopped to watch how people react to some common promotional events?

Let me give you an example.

Just watch when someone is trying to HAND OUT promotional flyers to every passerby. You’ll notice that MOST people are annoyed by this ‘in your face’ approach. The flyer WILL be THROWN OUT by the vast majority without even bothering to LOOK at it! (That’s what happens to most traditional advertising!)

Compare that with what happens when someone is giving out FREE samples(discount coupons, etc.) of a product. The main reaction you notice is: CURIOSITY! ‘What are they GIVING AWAY?’ ‘I want SOME!’

Never mind if you can use it or not. The first reaction is: I WANT SOME, or KNOW MORE about it! You have been ATTRACTED to the ‘message’. And the same happens to a lot of people. You may even ASK someone who just GOT something to TELL you about it! And the person(even if it’s a stranger) DOES! If you happen to like it, you GO TO GET YOURS TOO!

Why this happens?

In the flyer example, the approach doesn’t appeal to your ‘What’s In It FOR ME?’ factor. The message CHASES YOU! Somebody is ‘TRYING to SELL you something’.

The Second scenario hits the person right where it counts. It feeds the: ‘I Can Get Something FREE NOW!’ factor.

The tables have turned: Now, You CHASE the Message! YOU want to see what the whole deal is! You become a voluntary recipient. YOU convinced yourself!

I hope you can use this tip to great results!

4. Let people get to KNOW and RECOMMEND YOU! Visit Active Web Message Boards related to your Websites’ theme, and see what people are LOOKING FOR and the Problems they have. Give RELEVANT answers to their Questions.

This is more effective (and cheaper)than advertising all over the place. An honest referral by a satisfied customer or user is your BEST ALLY!

Now…The JUICY Part!

5. Create a related Freebie(not a Blatant Ads Billboard) that will give your Target Market VALUABLE information like:

“Things You Should Know BEFORE …”

“How To…”

‘Mistakes You Must Avoid …”

“The Secrets to…”

GIVE IT AWAY with NO Strings attached, and encourage people to pass it along to their friends.

Instead of pushing, let people be ‘pulled’ to your site.

The KEY to make this approach work EFFECTIVELY is: The information you GIVE away, MUST have its HIGHEST VALUE when used in COMBINATION with one of your other products, or services.

This gives your visitors a STRONG REASON (that appeals to their SELF-INTEREST) to come back and use your other products or services. Both sides must derive a benefit from this exchange.

That’s the name of the game!

If you’re planning to go back to work after your baby is born, child care is a major concern. Your childcare provider will be spending a lot of time with your child, so it is critical that you be comfortable with the environment and the style of care your child will be receiving. There are several alternatives, each with pros and cons. Spend some time evaluating each option, so that you can make the choice that best suits your needs.

The first option is in-home child care, meaning a sitter, or nanny who comes to your home to watch the child. This is by far the most expensive option, but it has many advantages. Your child will be at home, and will have the full attention of the nanny. In addition, your child will be exposed to fewer illnesses, and you will not have to transport her back and forth on your way to and from work. The main disadvantage is that you have no real backup if your nanny gets sick or wants to take vacation. Another thing to consider is your feelings if your child develops a very strong bond with the nanny. The second option is a small home daycare, meaning you find someone who will keep your child in her home, perhaps with her own children or one or two others. This is a good option if you want your child in a home atmosphere, but can’t afford the full time nanny. This option shares the same disadvantages of having a nanny in terms of no backup plan.

The third option is a traditional daycare center. Traditional daycares are affordable, and there is no need to worry about a caretaker getting sick or wanting to take vacation. A daycare might also be more of a learning environment than home care, which will become more important to you as your child gets older. The main disadvantages of daycares are that your child is exposed to all the germs of all the children. Be prepared for the both of you to be sick for a year. The other disadvantage is the numbers of children being cared for. For example, in most states, the law requires one caretaker per eight babies. Now, I don’t know about you, but I could not effectively care for eight babies alone. So, if you decide to use a daycare center, be sure to ask their caretaker to child ratio. Look for one with about five babies per caretaker.

Choosing your baby’s childcare arrangement is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Even after you’ve chosen a care option, be diligent about ensuring that your child is receiving the best care. Drop in unannounced at odd times of day to see what’s going on. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and let the caretaker know what’s important to you. It’s critical not only to your child’s well being, but to your own piece of mind.

But for a US company to ship an empty container back to China would cost about $900. So instead of spending the money, US companies have simply begun to store them.

So the argument has been made that these containers could be turned into shelter for use in emergencies. In light of the recent aftermath of hurricane Katrina, there could actually be immediate need for such shelters. Ideally, the converted containers could be delivered by truck to the actual home sight of the disaster victims. They could live in the shelter on their own land, using the utilities that are already supplied to that lot until their home is rebuilt. The shelters would be preferable to tents because of their steel beam construction. They can endure strong winds, snow and even wildfires.

However, the first step is to get the containers converted. At the moment, there are a few problems that those performing the conversion face. First of all, the containers are only 8 feet wide which doesn’t create much room. Cutting away sides and joining 2 containers together can solve this problem. Windows and other holes for utilities have to be cut with a blow torch, requiring specialized labor. So, at the moment, the cost of converting these shipping containers would be prohibitive.

But there is a solution to this problem. Proponents of the idea, including professors, students, nonprofit organizations and some members of the building industry suggest that the containers should be designed so that conversion is possible at some point in the future. They could have removable panels that would not endanger the integrity of the container when it’s being used for shipping and could be easily removed when the container is needed in an emergency for shelter. When needed, these containers could then be transported and set up much faster and would be a much more comfortable solution for the victims.

There are still many questions about this idea, mostly about how to get enough interest from the government agencies that are responsible for disaster relief as well as from the companies that manufacture and use the containers. For example, who will pay for the changes needed to the equipment and processes that the manufacturers might use? What type of notification and organization system will be put into place to direct the distribution and installation of the shelters? What happens to the containers once the victims have acquired permanent housing? And again, who will pay for the delivery and removal of the units? All of these and other questions would need to be answered before the idea could be put into widespread use. Although the idea is still in the formative stages, it definitely shows promise.
