Great Travel Tips | 31 May, 2008
Oh the joys of traveling. Most of us have had both good and bad experiences over the years, but what usually kick starts the trip off to either a fine or poor start is the accommodation. It’s so important for the owners of holiday lodgings to create a welcoming feeling on arrival. Whatever the type of business, there’s never a second chance to make a first impression, and the hotels and motels of the world are certainly no exception to that rule.
Obviously, all the glossy brochures and posters promoting the hotels and motels are going to create great visual impact, but just how much of what we see in these illustrated ads actually bear a resemblance to the places in reality?
The search for fine hotels and motels starts by knowing how to locate them. Years ago this was no easy feat as all we had to go on were a few brochures and a bit of a hard sell from the travel agents. Thanks to the internet, those methods are now in the dark ages of travel and tourism.
The best thing about the booming travel industry world wide is the availability of the hotels and motels that have sprung up literally everywhere. An abundance of places to stay has created some healthy competition among hoteliers and that can only be good for customers in terms of both the quality and affordability of available lodgings.
If you already know you destination or general geographical preference, you can simply hop online and log onto Google or one of the other great search engines out there. With Google at your disposal, just type in your destination and within a millisecond you’ll have a whole bunch of hotels and motel to browse through based on your search terms.
On my last trip to Orlando, I made great use of the World Wide Web a few months prior to the trip. It was so easy to find a choice of 4 and 5 star hotels and up-market motels to choose from. Each one of the hotels and motels that I short listed had their won website. It was just fantastic to get recent pictures of the layout, the rooms, the restaurants and the recreational areas, plus of course, the latest prices and promotions. A few of these places actually had online virtual tours which gave panoramic scrolling views of the establishment.
Whether you are someone who travels a lot on business or just a care-free holiday-goer who loves to take trips, I strongly recommend you do all your searching for hotels and motels online. Even if you have some loyalty in places you’ve stayed for years, why not jump online and see what’s available? You’ll be truly amazed at the variety in quality, location, and cost that’s around these days. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the terrific promotions that get thrown out there from time to time, and yes, many of these special deals are available to internet booker only.

Christian Dior had always passion to scents: “Perfume is a shadow, a reflection of woman’s personality, that’s her last image”. Miss Dior, Diorama, Diorissimo which were created during Dior’s life, have in their names the sacred name “DIOR”. They are identified as classic, “Dioric” scents. Poison has a mysterious seductive power. Tendre poison- the light version for women of the beginning of the 90’s ……which symbolizes poet’s dreaminess. Hypnotic poison- seductive and magnetic scent. This extravagant scent has “diabolic” sensuality. The flacon reminds us of a dangerous temptation of “forbidden fruit”.

Could you use more money? Of course, who couldn’t?
Whether you are overwhelmed with bills and expenses or just looking to save some extra cash for a nice family vacation, you basically have just two choices:
1. Make more money.
2. Lower your bills.
Making more money is easier said than done. Most people only get a salary increase that barely covers inflation and the increased cost of living. Add in the increased cost of healthcare, and many people actually have less money in their paycheck!
You can get a promotion and earn more, but that can take time. And in this day and age of massive layoffs, how secure do you feel at work?
You can find a new job that pays more, or get a second job. But take it from someone who has worked part-time jobs to get by…it’s exhausting, and you’ll have to say goodbye to a lot of your free time.
Lowering your bills is less likely to cause major strife in your life. Cutting your expenses and finding ways to save money is not as difficult as you might think. All it takes is a little thought, creativity, and perspective.
Sit down and take an honest look at where your money is going. You are likely to be surprised. Most people throw money down the drain everyday, often without even realizing it. Ask yourself these questions…
Did I really get the best price for the blouse I am wearing?
Could I have paid less for that new car in my driveway?
Am I going to be able to retire when I am ready or will I have to keep working until I die?
Hopefully, your answers were yes, no, and yes. If not, you probably lost out on an opportunity to save money.
Learning how to save money and achieve financial security is a skill that not everyone learns. After all, it is not something that is taught in schools. Here are some ideas to get you thinking about how you can improve your financial situation…
Set your priorities. Decide what is important to you. Do you want to retire early? Afford a bigger house? Go on a dream vacation? Set those goals, and keep them in mind whenever you’re about to spend. Before you drop $5 on a latte, consider whether or not it is worth putting off your dream.
Think about how you can lower your bills:
If you own your own home, can you refinance your mortgage at a lower interest rate? Even though interest rates are starting to creep back up, they are still at historic lows. You could save hundreds of dollars by refinancing.
How about your credit cards? If you are paying a high interest rate, you can transfer your balance to a card with a lower rate and save big money. Many cards now offer 0% introductory offers for a year or more! Transfer the balance and then pay off as much as possible before the 0% offer ends. Just be sure not to run up a big balance again.
Keep an eye on your credit report. So much depends on your credit score. How would you know if there is a problem or mistake on it? You should keep a close eye on it at all times. If you notice something is inaccurate, get it corrected immediately.

Universe Of Lawyers | 28 May, 2008
On July 30, 2001, the ‘Narcotic Control Regulation’ was amended and the ‘Marijuana Medical Access Regulation’ came into force. This sparked the beginning of a heated national debate, the subject in question being the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes in Canada. While marijuana is still considered an illegal substance in Canada, it is approved for use under certain circumstances. It is available for applicants who have a terminal illness with a prognosis of a life span of less than 12 months, those who suffer from specific symptoms associated with certain serious medical conditions, or those who have symptoms associated with a serious medical circumstance, where conventional treatments have failed to relieve symptoms (Health Canada, “Medical Marijuana”).
Due to previous stigmatizations associated with marijuana use, as well as its previous legal implications, public favor was not in support for the recent Bill C-17; a Bill for cannabis law reform in Canada, which was passed on November 1, 2004. The legislation allows a person to have up to 30 grams of marijuana in their possession, within limitations, while only receiving a fine (Canadian Foundation for Drug Policy, “Cannabis Law Reform in Canada”). This Act is the closest the Canadian government has ever before come toward legalizing marijuana. It is becoming increasingly apparent that through Bill C-17, there will be potentially beneficial monetary implications for the federal government, false social perceptions will lessen, and medical benefits of cannabis use will become further appreciated. In the future, marijuana use will not be perceived as the social ‘evil’ it once was, or still is. In light of the following information, it will become clear that it is not necessary to prohibit marijuana use, but rather to regulate it.
To drug policy reformers, prohibition of marijuana is not just a cause to be supported, but a mandatory way of life, necessary to uphold society’s moral fiber. These activists do not consider marijuana to be safe. Even when scientific information supports the lack of harmful effects of cannabis on the body; many still categorize it with dangerous substances such as cocaine or heroin. It is these ‘marijuana myths’ that continue to influence the opinions of so many Canadian citizens, even though there is a lack of fact-driven information to support common social stigma.
A widespread belief amongst the public is that marijuana is a ‘gateway drug’, leading to the use of more harmful substances. Never has there been a consistent relationship between the use patterns of various drugs. While marijuana use has fluctuated over the years, harder, more addictive drug use, such as LSD, remains the same. In fact, in 1999 less than 16% of high school students who smoked marijuana report trying cocaine (qtd. in Zimmer, 2). Another frequent misconception is that high levels of marijuana use can be profoundly addicting. While lab rats that are injected with THC and then given a cannabinoid receptor-blocker do experience some withdrawal symptoms, such as disturbed sleep and loss of appetite, humans are never given ‘blockers’. THC slowly leaves the human system, causing no serious withdrawal (Zimmer et al. 47). A study such as this is not relevant to physical addiction in humans.
Lastly, many people still believe that the damaging effects of smoking marijuana are greater then that of smoking tobacco products. Although, except for their psychoactive ingredients, tobacco and marijuana smoke are nearly identical, tobacco use is far more dangerous than the latter. Mainly because of nicotine (cigarettes’ addictive quality), cigarette smokers tend to smoke 10 cigarettes a day, while regular cannabis smokers smoke fewer than 5 (Zimmer et al. 62). Marijuana smoke also effects the lungs in a different way than tobacco smoke does. “The nature of the marijuana-induced changes were also different, occurring primarily in the lungs’ large airways - not the small peripheral airways affected by tobacco smoke. Since it is small-airway inflammation that causes chronic bronchitis and emphysema, marijuana smokers may not develop these diseases” (Zimmer et al. 64).
These are just a few basic examples of the social stigmatization surrounding marijuana use, as there are many others. When closer examined, none of these ‘myths’ provide a solid foundation for the prohibition of marijuana use; therefore its ban remains unfounded.

Artist: Phyllis Addison
Title: Seven Gifts
Genre: New Age-Pop-Jazz-World
Label:Independent
Website: http://www.phyllisaddison.com
If you happen to enjoy music with spiritual and musical depth featuring a varied assortment of genres and instruments, I have an album for your consideration. Seven Gifts serves a two-fold purpose, to get you in touch with your inner self through soothing and appealing melodies, and lyrics that are reflective and spiritual. Phyllis Addison gives you words and music that transcend much of the garbage that we are all subject to through the MTV and Top 40 radio mediums.
Not only is this cool music with a hip groove, those of you in tune with your inner self that practice Yoga or other relaxation techniques will find refuge in this CD. Addison does some chanting with repetitive lyrics to get you into her trance like beat…you really get that Om thing going on. Normally repetition annoys me; in this case, it comes across to you in seamless fashion. This approach allows you to absorb the meaning and the music all at once. Exotic instruments like the Digeridoo and the Bonsuri Flute, amongst others, are employed to create the necessary atmosphere. This creativity and knowledgeable use of instruments invents a world beat that goes in a jazz-pop-new age direction.
I noticed that the rhythm section is in complete synchronicity, which is key in demonstrating and delivering the command over you, the listener. I do not have the opportunity to hear music like this that often so it was a welcome and appreciated change. With music that has so much to offer, so many facets and moods, there is something for everyone. If you are looking for something different and want to relax, this music will set you up for your own personal nirvana.

Do you find it easy to write songs? Too easy? Well, I at least
have had a problem with this.
If you would visit our home and my garage you would find a lot
of unfinished songs and a lot of manuscript paper with some
notes on them showing that I wanted to say something with music
but never finished it.
Maybe you always finish your songs, record them or have well
documented lists with your songs for easy access. That’s the way
I work now but obviously didn’t work before.
Nowadays I have started to realize the importance of finishing
songs that I have found enough important to start writing in the
first place.
I think it is important for you and me to complete songs we have
started to write for the following reasons:
1. It is when songs are complete that other people can benefit
from them and you can feel that you have contributed something
to the benefit of others and to yourself.
2. It has a positive effect on your subconsious mind to take
your composition the whole way to completion. It will give you
the realization that you can write songs. It’s that simple!
3. As I mentioned before you will avoid having a lot of
unfinished songs hanging around. It can be unfinished recordings
or pieces of paper with a few words on them indicating an
attempt to create something that probably meant a lot then but
now is just words.
If you are signed to a recording company you will be more or
less forced to produce things. The product will hopefully be a
CD with maybe twelve songs on it and a show for your promotion
tour.
It seems like slavery to be forced to produce a product like a
CD. But having this obvious goal to work towards and the
pressure involved can actually promote creativity.
If you are not signed to a record label you can benefit from
working with your songs in a similar way.
1. Set a goal to produce for example three songs and set the
prerequisites like writing one love ballad, one uptempo song and
a waltz.
2. When you have made the songs record them and burn them on a
CD.
3. Learn the songs by heart and sing and play them for your
friends.
Doing this will increase your faith in your ability to produce
songs and I think you will feel a greater joy and satisfaction
in your great enterprise to write songs for the benefit of
mankind and, of course, yourself.

This lesson is entitled, “How to Maximize your Distance by Hitting Triples instead of Home Runs” and it’s a great overall theory to build your entire swing around. Keep this in the back of your head at all times while you are on the course, and remind yourself of it before every shot. The result will be increased distance and straighter shots because you’ll be releasing your hands through the ball better.
Background Info:
Many recreational golfers struggle with slices, blocks, and inconsistency because they don’t know how to release their hands through the ball correctly. By “releasing your hands through the ball”, I am describing the act of maximizing your club head speed at the moment of impact, and eliminating the “outside-in” movement that creates a slice.
How You Will Benefit:
- You’ll learn an easy way of “getting your hands through the ball”
- You’ll be increasing the speed of the club head through the impact zone
- You will ensure that the club head is square at impact (which will drastically reduce any slice that you have)
What To Do:
Step 1: Create the “X”
This means that on the follow through, you need to focus on making your forearms cross. This will ensure that your hands have released through the ball correctly. Here’s an illustration of what I am talking about.
Notice the “X” that is created after impact and where the shaft of the club is pointed. Practice getting in this position. Practice creating that “X” after impact.
It will be easy to understand the alterative by paying attention to where the club is pointed, which I will explain in the next step.
Step 2: Finish at Third Base
Focus on pointing the club down the third base line on your follow through. In relation to where my feet are pointed in the picture at left, the club is pointed down the third base line. This is what we want.
Many golfers finish their swing with the club straight up in the air, or even pointed down the first base line in relation to their feet. Try that once, and you will feel the extreme “outside-in” movement that produces a slice. This is nothing more than a habit that can be easily broken. The Simple Golf Swing goes over this step in much more detail.
Summary:
So when you are on the tee next time, focus on just 2 things. Make the “X” and “finish at third”. That’s it. Swinging easy should already be grooved into your swing from the last tip I sent. Focus on these 2 tips, and you should be on your way to consistently staying out of trouble with your driver, which is the first step to scoring better.
